One more day gone, and one more nearer to Curacao. The wind has been very slight these last few days, but this afternoon quite a strong breeze has sprung up, causing the sea is become a little more angry than before. I have been standing on the top deck, facing out to see, and getting the full benefit of the breeze. It was really hard work to walk.

Today we donned our white covers, and I suppose soon, we shall be wearing ‘whites’. I have my doubts as to whether three will be enough and I don’t fancy washing a white suit!

Yesterday one of the stewards told me that this was the first cargo ship he had ever been on. He said he had used to be on a passenger boat, but owing to the wall, the boats have been taken over, and the men left to find other jobs. I rather of course, unconsciously put my foot in it by saying ‘you were jolly lucky not to get the push won’t you?’
