16th December 1940
We were all in our correct positions at daybreak, but at about 11am the “Llanwern” fell out. We don’t know why. Possibly it was engine trouble. However, as the convoy was only doing 5 knots, she soon caught up again, although at one time she was out of sight. It has rained pretty hard, but the sea has gone down considerably just leaving the heavy swell that always follows after a storm.
The ”Aldis” morse lamp has been out of action. We don’t know why.
