17th July 1941
I had to take a sailor ashore to have a tooth out, and as one of the soldiers – Jack by name – wanted to go ashore, he came with me. We had a very good time and on the whole, I consider Halifax to be quite a nice place although it is simply crammed with “men in uniform”.
The mate, Jack and myself went in for a swim at 7pm, when there was no sun and the temperature of the water was 50° Boy, it was lovely and refreshing.
