18th August 1944
Win, Tom, Mother, Dad and I went to Bletchingly this morning and had lunch within view of White Hill (picnic). After the picnic, we walked to Caterham and “Punch” learned to swim for the first time!
The weather was beautiful throughout. I caught the 1845 train to Clapham junction from Purley, while the others went to the pictures. I had to wait some time for a train to Waterloo and only just caught the 1930 to Southampton at which place I arrived at 2200. I walked to Uncle Stan’s and arrived at 2220, had a meal and went to bed.
