Lost convoy yesterday. Foggy weather. Now keeping wireless watches.

We have still lost the convoy. It is unlikely that we shall reach the appointed rendezvous in time, as our speed for the most part of the day  has been between 7 and 8 knots, instead of 9 and 10 kn. The old man is very worried because we are in the danger area and are not likely to have an escort home. He has been rowing with the chief engineer, telling him that he doesn’t know his job. Still he does that nearly everyday we are in convoy so it doesn’t make much difference. I haven’t had much sleep because I had to do the watch on the bridge yesterday for 6 hrs, and then do the watch in the wireless room.
