We were still within sight of some of the ships by daylight today and during the day the convoy managed to more or less reform itself. Unfortunately, the Commodore ordered 7.5 knots and so drew away from us. He isn’t bothering about stragglers. We have rolled very heavily because of our cargo of iron ore. This evening none of the convoy were in sight so we are now on our own.

There is a light misty rain about which obliterates everything.
