We left just after 10 o’clock & entered the Hooghly river (Hooghly), which is considered to be holy by the Hindus.

The river winds about with mud banks, & jungle on either side, whereas little is seen. Went ashore with John & Purser to picture. Town looks very nice from what we saw of it.
