20th August 1943
We sailed at 2 pm. We are taking back the two army doctors that we brought here. They have been to Cox’s Bazar to inspect the malarial cases there. Apparently the officers have 5-course dinners & are waited on by men in mess kit jackets. The Japs are only a few miles away, & the civilians may go into town & mix with the Japs whenever they like.
