21st June 1942
At 8.15 this morning we were greeted with the very pleasant sight of Table Mountain, Cape Town.
True to tradition, the sea, swell and wind have been fairly high as we’ve rounded the Horn. It is not difficult to imagine the sailing ships of old battling round in tremendous gales.
Of the 22 ships of one convoy which were sunk by the Japs. off Colombo this year, 3 were of this company! (Shortest day).
