22nd February 1944
We were ordered in at 1pm but our engines were under repair so we had to wait until 4pm.
The view we obtained as we entered the harbour was very impressive and picturesque. The town looked neat with its array of white walled houses with symmetrically placed rectangular windows, and scattered houses on the hill slopes behind.
In the harbour we saw but one burned out vessel but there must have been many more.
