As we were attempting to leave the Gulf at 4 pm, we were stopped by a naval vessel and told to make for Bandar Abbas to await convoy! This just put the finishing touch to the Old Man’s temper. Speed is essential now that we are so short of coal.

Russia for several days has been attacking the Germans N and S of Stalingrad with great success.
