24th April 1942
I turned in at 8:30 pm last night with a crushing headache. I woke at 11:45 pm shivering despite the fact that the room was almost intolerably hot. I didn’t sleep again between then and 1:45 am when I had to go on watch. It was all I could do to last out for that 6 hours. I had a chill on liver thru’ sitting in a draught.
I asked the steward for some bi-carbonate of soda but he had none. When I said I had a headache among other things he at once suggested “Aspro!” I said no, and took some salts instead. Now I feel almost myself again.
