24th January 1944
George and I set out for Loch Lomond at 10am. We took a bus from Grangemouth to Glasgow, and from the bus station there went to Waterloo St bus station next to Central railway station for a bus to Balloch.
To get to Waterloo Stn, we took a red car down Sauchiehall St, turned left down Renfield St for a short distance (to Central Station) and the bus station was on the right.
We took a Balloch bus. It went down Bath St (past Kings Theatre) left into Sauchiehall St to Somerset Place and from there into Dumbarton Rd.
Most of the small towns we passed through were dirty. Occasionally I noticed attempts at modern architecture as applied to apartment houses.
Once at Balloch, G and I walked through a lovely park there and down to the water’s edge. It was lovely.
Back in Glasgow we went to see “Millions Like Us” and then got back to the ship. We enjoyed ourselves very much.
