25th April 1944
We arrived at anchor in Belfast Lough at 1900 hours having averaged something like 14 ½ knots. As we went down the Bristol Channel, several of the shore-wide rocket guns were fired. These caused a terrific row, even from where we were.
The food wasn’t too grand today but we hope it will improve. Mr J.V. Harford (No.1) seems very nice, but constantly bemoans the jews – in fact he is well known on the ship for that reason.
