25th January 1945
We picked up the “hook” at 0700 and the pilot came aboard soon after, but had to anchor until 1700 hours for the tide. The snow was thick on board this morning and the fetching of the water became a pain in the neck. We were alongside by 1900 hours and the mail was on board at once.
We hear that we are to go to Heysham then Liverpool, and then New York. Everyone is very depressed because we had hoped for repairs here.
