25th March 1942

I awoke this morning with a glorious sun streaming through my windows. The time was about 11 o’clock! The girls said they would have fried eggs with me, so we cooked 3. It turned out that I had to eat all 3!!

The invitation which I received from Betty Reigel at the U.S.O club for today, has extended to Peggy and Cissie. Two British soldiers off a Merchant ship were there too. Betty has a sister (whose name I forget). She is interested in art, and attends an art school. There father is a commercial artist, and an extremely good one at that. He showed me his sketches which  he made in France during the last war, and also a painting from a photo of a friend in soldier’s uniform. It was a water colour, and really hot stuff.

Mrs Tetlow asked me to stay the night again, but I thought I ought to return to the ship as nobody knew where I was! They asked me out for the coming weekend however.

I also have an invitation for Friday with Betty to someone or others.
