I spoke to the son today and was surprised to hear that he was only 16 years old. His father is a Wing Commander. They have lived for 4 1/2 years in the Sinai desert  – 8m outside Karachi. He used to go to the Karachi Grammar school. He has had four diseases out here including malaria. His mother says he couldn’t stand another 2 summers out here.

By this evening, everyone was on talking terms and we watched, together, our approach to Bombay. We came and anchored for the night. To our surprise the daughter of the school mistress is only 12 years old! She must be 5‘8“ or 9”.
