I think it has been the hottest weather we have had so far. Last night was beautifully clear, and the stars were far larger than I have ever seen before. One of them actually made a reflection in the water such as the moon does.

It is rather difficult trying to read Morse when the electric storms are on in the evenings. Is bad enough with the other stations!

I can’t say I shall be sorry when we arrive at New Zealand, because it gets pretty boring after a time, and the wireless cabin is so stuffy because of the sandbags around it, if it weren’t for the fan, it would be unbearable. Sometimes the fan has to be switched off because of the noise it makes in the air phones.

We are now doing nine hours a day, including a six hour watch.
