2nd December 1940
More sad news has come through concerning five ships which were sunk by submarines in one convoy, off the coast of Ireland. Their distress calls were picked up by the Mackay radio from Valencia and Portishead Head Radio, who relayed the messages. It seems that the large Italian submarines and German submarines, are coming up to the North Atlantic.
Food is becoming even worse than before.
Snow has fallen heavily. It is bitterly cold. The old man has a bad throat.
