2nd June 1941
We left our anchorage at five o’clock this evening, and went up to the Eastham locks, where we tied up for the night. It is great to see one or two fields and a few trees. The green is a wonderful tonic.
We are not dry docking here after all, but in New York! Paddy is terribly disappointed. No mail has come on board. The agent just said “There is no mail in the office”. We must not grumble, for surely it is enough to have got back safely?
