30th August 1944

We tied up at the worst berth possible: right next to the opposite to the Hamble berth. To get ashore, we had to procure a launch from Hamble and return there and continue by bus as we did last time. Hugh and I went ashore. When we returned there were two letters waiting for me, one from Shirley, on holiday in Torquay, and one from Waterhouses.

My room looks a great deal better now, and I have an extra light fitting over my “desk” which is so much better than usual.
