30th September 1944

When I came out on deck this morning we were passing “the White Cliffs of Dover”. We could see very little damage through the telescope, but doubtless there is some somewhere. We docked at Thames Haven at around about 1400 hours and I went home. There wasn’t a train until 1840, so I took a bus to Grays and another bus from there to Upminster. From there I took the Underground to Monument and finally arrived home at 2100 hours.

I discovered that Renee was home so we had a bit of a chat, before I went round to Tommy’s to see the others. Diana and Adrian have returned from their evacuation.
