Today’s weather is the only thing worth reporting about, so you can imagine we haven’t done much! A very amusing way of passing the time away, is to find some convenient view point, anywhere on deck, and watch the dear old “Ethel Radcliffe”, endeavouring to keep up with the front line of the convoy – next door to the commodore. When the fires are cleaned out, the steam pressure drops right down, and so, of course, do we!
Sometimes we fall back as far as three ships down, in our column which we are supposed to be leading! I see now, after writing that, that I mentioned this particular peculiarity of the “Ethel Radcliffe”, only yesterday, so that rather proves what I said about having nothing much to write about.
