31st March 1943

Today has been a day of antagonism between the Major and John and I. For this morning the ship was swarming with Yanks and the major isn’t very fond of such people and kept on saying so. To his annoyance everyone kept telling him that they were pretty efficient and would get us out in no time. He laughed but we were out by 10am!!!

We reached the XXXX at about 5:30 pm. There were quite a number of ships there. The Yanks, as usual, have had to wait longer than anyone else with their extremely valuable cargoes of tanks, cars, planes and ammunitions. No wonder they get annoyed.
