4th May 1941

Although we were scheduled to leave today, we have not done so because three hundred odd tons of water mysteriously “got into” one of the tanks!

However, they started pumping it again at about 6 o’clock this evening, so we should be ready by ten o’clock tomorrow.

There is a rumour which I must not disclose.

The manager of the Bullen Bay installation, and 50 others, have been run in as 5th columnists. A short-wave transmitting set was found in their possession. A Norwegian tanker loaded at Bullen Bay and finished up in Germany! Truth is stranger than fiction.
