4th November 1941

Fortunately for us, we have not shifted, so I have been able to go ashore and see Mrs Doucette etc with Donald and Doug (both apprs’ off the “Elona”). We had a wonderful dinner, but boy what a funny way of eating, I was so embarrassed I didn’t know whether I was standing on my head or on my feet! However, we managed to get by all night and had quite a long talk with Marie and Dotty on school affairs.

After dinner, we all made for the drawing room, where the films were shown. There were 16-20 people all told, and yet they all managed to occupy just one very small fraction of the end  – of the room! The films were in colour and sound, and were about American history. A really good time!

After the show we went to a special shop, selling supposedly the best ice cream in Houston. I must admit that it was the best I had ever tasted.

If we are in tomorrow, we have been invited to a show, with  Horace, Heit and his band. The film has some peculiar title, which I cannot recall.
