6th October 1943
The clocks have gone back 1/2 hour. The wind has been much stronger today though the sea is still pretty calm. We have had periodic showers for the last 2 days, which has meant no sleeping outside. My room is almost unbearable to sleep in. Our speed is now only abt. 9 1/2 knots due to a head sea, torpedo nets, & zig-zagging.
I received a message of a ship being torpedoed off Muscat harbour this morning. Earlier on we received a QQQQ message (armed merchant raider) but it was cancelled later as a “friendly vessel.” Have IMPETIGO.
