7th January 1945
We sailed at 1000 hrs., according to schedule and the 3rd mate only just caught the ship before she pulled off. We are St. Helen’s Roads – Cherbourg bound and are Commodore. The Comm. is quite a nice sort of fellow; jolly and friendly, and holds the rank of Captain. The wind is rising again, so we expect to get a blow as we round Lands’ End.
