The air raid alarm sounded just after 4 pm but it proved to be a false alarm. A few minutes later a straggler to our convoy — a Frenchman — sent an AAAA message saying that he had sighted an enemy aircraft. He is only a few miles from us. The plane is looking for the whole convoy though, so that he can round up a pack of U-boats.
