9th January 1944
This morning George and I went to Church – he to the R.C. and I to the Church of Scotland. I enjoyed the latter very much, it being extremely simple. The Psalm was sung in an ordinary tune and there was no chanting.
This afternoon, we both wrote letters.
We have a very efficient B.B.C broadcast system. There are speakers in all the major rooms including the saloon.
The new Old Man, Capt. Ross, sailed in this ship two trips ago and our new steward was in this ship one voyage ago. Both have great reputations.
As we came into Glasgow we went on the following roads:- Springburn Road., to Castle St. and Parliamentary Road.
The buses and trams on these routes were blue, yellow and green.
