Alan came out of hospital at midday, having convinced the doctor that he was cured from bites!

Alan, Jim & I went to the pictures in the evening. While we were waiting to go in the 9.30 performance of “Bandra”, Alan had terrible pains that made me fear an attack of dysentery, and had to leave the show just after it had started, & was violently sick in the vestibule. I managed to get a gharry back to the ship & got signed…

Alan in hospital. He said there was an epidemic of dysentery & 10% of the Yankee troops had it. One of their surgeons spent a week at the hospital, trying to find the cause. Every bed was full at the hospital. Chaps have it 24 hours. Later he visited the hotel, & saw the “Gateway”.
